Microsoft New Employee Orientation (NEO)
Microsoft came to us shortly after the pandemic, still in a fully digital world asking how we could revitalize their, usually in-person, new employee orientation. We came up with a fun, immersive world that is rooted in everything Microsoft. Their history, their brand values, their capabilities, and much more. We imagined 4 highly-detailed islands that correlate to the Microsoft logo, that correspond with the 4 days of orientation. Each with new learnings, themes, and teachings. I worked extremely closely with the 3D artist and art director on sketching new ideas daily, refining the islands constantly, and helping the 3D artist make assets they needed, among other things.
Although this vision never came to completion, this is still a process that I highly valued and collaboration with a team I have always strived for since this experience.

Sketching
Sketching was a major part of the process for this project and was my main responsibility. I had to be fast, agile, and precise with these sketches so the 3D artists had little room for interpretation. We moved fast, and the team for this project was in constant communication and so the sketches were evolving on an almost daily basis.

3D Renders
The renders were supposed to be the final vision of this project, they were tedious, detailed, sharp, textured, and riddled with meaning about Microsoft’s history, capabilities, and expertise. A completed 3D world of fun colorful renders could have excited new employees and made their onboarding process more grounded and monumental.
